Daniel Craig's 'The Golden Compass' faces streaming exit on Tubi

Daniel Craig's The Golden Compass is getting attention again as fans have just a short time left to watch the fantasy movie for free. The 2007 film is now streaming on Tubi, but it will leave the service on October 1. The Golden Compass follows Lyra, a young girl living in an alternative world where humans are accompanied by animal companions called daemons.

When children begin to vanish mysteriously, Lyra embarks on a quest to rescue her missing friend, plunging into a much larger and more perilous adventure. Craig plays Lord Asriel, Lyra's uncle, alongside a star-studded cast featuring Nicole Kidman, Sam Elliott and Ian McKellen. Based on Philip Pullman's acclaimed novel Northern Lights, the film grossed roughly $372 million globally against an $180 million budget.

While it received mixed reviews from critics - holding a 41 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes - it notably won an Academy Award for best visual effects. The timing marks an intriguing phase for Craig, who is poised to re-enter the fantasy genre by starring as Uncle Andrew in Netflix's upcoming adaptation, Narnia: The Magician's Nephew.

The film is slated for theatrical release in February 2027 before premiering on Netflix in April. Fans of the actor are eagerly awaiting his return to the fantasy genre after his iconic tenure as James Bond, hoping this new project will capture the magic of his previous cinematic ventures.
