Jamaat-e-Islami emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman made telephonic contact with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Thursday to discuss the country's overall political situation, rising inflation and growing public grievances over the petroleum levy. During the discussions, the leaders evaluated the economic burden placed on the public and deliberated on joint political strategies to address these concerns.
The Jamaat-e-Islami emir emphasised that the government's decision to impose an excessive petroleum levy amounts to direct injustice against the public, urging all opposition parties to unite and forcefully raise their voices against inflation and key public issues. He said that the Jamaat-e-Islami is actively fulfilling its responsibility by representing the genuine concerns of the people at a nationwide level. Endorsing the Jamaat-e-Islami stance, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief announced his full support for their ongoing campaign against the petroleum levy, describing their clear-cut position on public welfare matters as a commendable effort.
Meanwhile, the KP CM also praised Jamaat-e-Islami's democratic struggle for public rights and demanded that the federal government immediately provide concrete relief to citizens regarding the petroleum levy, the Jamaat-e-Islami spokesman in a statement said.
