Sebastian Stan is getting used to a very different kind of leading role: dad. The 44-year-old actor stepped onto the red carpet Thursday, September 10, at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of Fjord, but his latest movie wasn't the only thing on his mind. Stan recently welcomed his first child with girlfriend Annabelle Wallis, and he opened up about the emotional reality of becoming a father while continuing to work around the world.

"You feel like everything you're doing is now maximized and has major implications and consequences," he told Vulture.  "Having had a baby and then having to get on a plane to go back to work felt like I was ruining their life." Stan is currently working in London through the end of the year while Wallis and their baby remain in New York.  He said he has been flying back whenever he can, with his family expected to join him in London once the baby can receive immunisation shots.

"I feel kind of schizophrenic," he added. "I've always been all or nothing with work. I don't know how else to do it.

But now I am forced to have one foot in one world and one foot in the other." Meanwhile, Stan is also promoting Fjord, directed by Cristian Mungiu.  The film follows a Romanian family who moves with their five children to a remote Norwegian coastal town, where allegations of abuse force the community to confront questions about prejudice and judgment. Renate Reinsve also stars in the film, which hits theaters October 9.

So while Stan may be balancing Hollywood, London and New York, his biggest new role clearly came without an audition.
