The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bail to one Manzoor Hussain, a suspect nominated in a murder case. A three-member bench, headed by Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, heard the case. During the hearing, judges expressed strong displeasure over police allegedly incorporating false information into FIRs.

Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked accused persons are acquitted by courts largely because of registration of false and fabricated FIRs by the police. He further observed the system is still functioning, but the real expertise lies with police in registering false FIRs. The court also clarified when accused persons are granted bail on the basis of false cases, the judicial system is unnecessarily blamed.
