In an international joint operation against narcotics trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has seized a total of 671 kilograms of Methamphetamine (Ice) from Karachi and Colombo ports, linked to an Afghanistan-based drug trafficking network.

In a statement, the ANF spokesperson said the force achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing efforts against international drug trafficking by successfully exposing and disrupting a transnational network involved in smuggling Afghan-origin drugs through Pakistan to international markets.

Based on actionable intelligence developed by the ANF, a successful operation was conducted against the transnational drug trafficking organization, resulting in the recovery of 200 kilograms of Methamphetamine (Ice) from a container at Karachi Port along with the Afghan mastermind, identified as Ehsanullah. Local handlers were also arrested.

Following thorough investigations from the Afghan kingpin, the ANF shared critical information with Sri Lankan authorities and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The DEA coordinated with relevant Sri Lankan authorities, resulting in the seizure of 471 kilograms of Ice - concealed inside towels - during a joint operation at Colombo Port, further crippling the international drug supply chain.
