An unsettling incident has sent shockwaves across the Southwest suburban community after a 40-year-old woman from Frankfort was charged with first-degree murder tied to the death of her toddler. The Frankfort woman is identified as Corie Walsh, who is charged with the murder of her 2-year-old son Barrett Walsh.

The prosecutors alleged that 2-year-old Barrett's body was discovered by the neighbour, hanging from the rafter in the basement of the family's home located in Brookstone Court. The Frankfort police rushed to the reports of an unresponsive child at the 22700-block of Brook Stone Court just after 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. The Frankfort authorities also said the same neighbour reportedly found Corie Walsh upstairs in a bathtub with self-inflicted injuries with a knife.

Prosecutors added another striking revelation linked to the Lindsay Clancy trial, stating, "Walsh had recently become very invested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial." Walsh's defence attorneys said the married mother of four "was experiencing a psychotic episode." Attorney Andrea Lyon added, "This is a tragedy for the Walsh family all of whom are mourning the loss of their child."

Although many of the details about the whereabouts of Corie's husband are unknown, prosecutors said he was out of town at the time of the murder. The authorities said an infant who was home at the time didn't get hurt, while two other school-age children reached home around the time the child and Walsh were discovered by the neighbour.
