Angel Reese, the Atlanta Dream's superstar, has shattered another record in Monday night's win against host the Los Angeles Sparks. Reese breaks the WNBA single-game record, posting 26 rebounds in the Dream's 78-71 triumph on Monday night, August 24. The feat came as Reese moved past the WNBA's single-season mark in the same contest.
Reese, while speaking in a postgame interview, said, "Last time I was here, I didn't miss any shots. Tonight, I couldn't hit - so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side." Reese, determined and focused with eyes on the target, added, "I just want to be consistent for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win."
On Monday, Reese posted her WNBA-leading 27th double-double with a basket that gave her her 11th point with 13.9 seconds left. Reese's record-breaking rebounding night on Monday happened just two days after she posted a career-high 31 points in Atlanta's win at Phoenix on Saturday, August 22.
Reese shattered Chamique Holdsclaw's record of 24 rebounds, registered on May 23, 2023, while playing for the Washington Mystics. Reese, in the current season run, has so far scored 458 rebounds in 37 appearances, surpassing A'ja Wilson's mark by seven rebounds, which was set in 2024 in 38 games.
A three-time WNBA All-Star, Reese previously posted a single-game career high in rebounding of 22, set in her rookie year in 2024 with the Chicago Sky. Atlanta's win capped a perfect 4-0 sweep of the West Coast trip, as they now sit at 25-13 heading toward the playoffs.
