National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has assumed the office of acting president of Pakistan as President Asif Ali Zardari is currently on leave to visit the Republic of Austria from August 27 to 31. Meanwhile, the Senate chairman has also proceeded abroad on an official visit. In view of the absence of both the president and Senate chairman, Ayaz will perform the functions of the president until the return of Zardari or the Senate chairman.
