Brad Pitt is returning to Spain after 17 years for the San Sebastián Film Festival, where he will present his new survival thriller Heart of the Beast. The film, which is directed by David Ayer, will be shown outside the main competition. Pitt and Ayer are both expected to attend the festival, which runs from 18 September to 26 September.
Pitt plays James Belmont, a former Special Forces officer who is left in the Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash. His only companion is Odin, a retired combat dog. With no easy way out, the two must depend on each other to survive the cold and dangerous land. Their journey, however, is not just about finding safety but also about the bond that grows between them.
The movie marks another meeting between Pitt and Ayer. The two earlier worked together on Fury in 2014. This time, their story moves away from war and puts Pitt in a fight against nature. Simmons and Anna Lambe also appear in the movie alongside the lead cast.
Pitt last attended San Sebastián in 2009 for Inglourious Basterds. His return after 17 years is expected to be one of the notable moments of this year's festival, drawing immense attention from fans and international media alike.
