Cardi B revealed the cost of fame while sharing a few words of wisdom for those just starting their journey in the spotlight. The Bodak Yellow hitmaker got candid about celebrity pressures in a new interview, revealing that life in the spotlight isn't always as glamorous as it seems.
The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, said she feels proud of proving people wrong and accomplishing things others had not, but admitted that the pressure of being famous can be overwhelming. "That's why they say to be careful about what you wish for because you just might get it," she admitted, adding that celebrity life brings immense public scrutiny.
She explained that fame comes with constant public attention and a level of pressure that is difficult to prepare for. The 33-year-old artist noted that despite dreaming of successful moments, she sometimes feels as though she didn't apply for the reality of celebrity life.
"You just gotta find a mechanism that works for you to help deal with the fame. But whatever mechanism you decide on, just don't turn to drugs, okay?" she warned, describing fame as a mental challenge that requires healthy coping mechanisms.
