Ellen Pompeo is heading back to a hospital setting, but this time as a nurse rather than a doctor. The Grey's Anatomy star is attached to lead Not a Sound, a new drama in development at Hulu from Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley, Deadline reports.
The project marks a reunion of sorts for the two; in March 2005, Kelley's Boston Legal wrapped its Sunday night slot to make room for the debut of Grey's Anatomy the following week, and now, more than two decades later, the pair are teaming up directly for the first time.
Based on Heather Gudenkauf's novel of the same name, Not a Sound follows Amelia Winn, a disgraced ER nurse who loses her hearing after a devastating hit-and-run accident. When she and her loyal service dog discover the murdered body of a former colleague, Amelia is pulled into a mystery that may finally reveal the truth behind the accident that upended her life.
Pompeo has been notably busy at Disney lately. Beyond Not a Sound, her true-crime anthology series Good American Family was recently renewed for a second season at Hulu, and the streamer also ordered a dramedy pilot titled Chicks, which she stars in and executive produces. She continues to headline ABC's Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Meredith Grey, a role she's held since 2005, and remains an executive producer on spinoff Station 19 as well as an upcoming Grey's offshoot set in West Texas, slated for a midseason 2027 premiere.
