Gal Gadot makes surprising confession at 'The Runner' premiere

Gal Gadot had to learn how to run before becoming The Runner. The actress, 41, graced the red carpet on August 27 at the Harmony Gold Theater in Los Angeles for the premiere of her upcoming Prime Video thriller. But while Gadot may look like a natural icon star, running for the camera was a completely different story. "I had to [train] because I am not a runner. I'm not Tom Cruise and running is not part of my life. I hated running before, so I had to literally learn how to run and prepped for nine months with the most amazing Olympic trainer that taught me how to love-ish running," she told Associated Press. Apparently, not exactly Olympic material.

Gadot quipped that she initially ran like "Phoebe from Friends," referring to the character's famously chaotic running style. "That was like where we started. Maybe my arms were more in control, but definitely not the best form." In The Runner, Gadot plays Maia Marten, a high-powered London lawyer whose morning jog turns into a nightmare when she learns her son has been kidnapped. She is ordered to keep running, follow a series of commands and tell nobody - or risk losing him.

The thriller also stars Damian Lewis, Rory Wilmot and Alfred Enoch. With nine months of training behind her, Gadot is ready to put those hard-earned running skills to the ultimate test.

The Runner premieres on Prime Video September 02.
