The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday restrained authorities from allegedly harassing or arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders ahead of the proposed September 27 long march, while also summoning the SSP Operations for a response at the next hearing. Justice Raja Inaam Ameen Minhas issued the directives while hearing a petition challenging the alleged harassment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders ahead of the long march.

Advocates Shoaib Shaheen and Riasat Azad appeared before the court on behalf of Malik Amir Ali and others. Shoaib Shaheen submitted that police raids were being conducted and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were being arbitrarily arrested. He alleged that valuables and cash were also taken from homes during these raids, adding that his family was being harassed.

He requested the court to restrain authorities from further harassment and arrests and to fix the matter for hearing next week. The counsel maintained that peaceful political activities were a constitutional right and the ongoing crackdown violated fundamental rights.

The court summoned the SSP Operations in person and barred authorities from harassing or arresting Shoaib Shaheen, Malik Amir Ali and other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders. The hearing was subsequently adjourned to allow the administration to submit a comprehensive report.
