Vikings QB Kyler Murray Injured in Green Bay Packers Clash: What We Know After Week 1 Win

The Minnesota Vikings' quarterback Kyler Murray suffered a concussion after he exited the field early in the season opener against the Green Bay Packers. The latest reports indicate that Murray had a concussion injury after Vikings' medical staff treated him. QB Murray was later spotted in a postgame locker room, chatting with teammates and staff after the Minnesota Vikings won the game against the Packers at the U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday, September 13.

Murray didn't speak to the media post injury, as he was placed under the NFL's concussion protocol, but head coach Kevin O'Connell felt relieved by his attitude around the team in the locker room. O'Connell, while talking to the media, provided an update on QB Murray's concussion injury. "He (Murray) seemed to be doing pretty well, but I wouldn't medically quote me on that," adding, Minnesota will "take it day by day." Murray was ruled out of the rest of the game after the team announced he had a concussion injury.

The two-time Pro Bowler, Murray, who won the Vikings' starting lineup this summer after he inked a one-year contract in March, suffered the concussion on the 11th play of his regular season opener in Minnesota. Murray played his first seven NFL seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, who selected him as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The former Oklahoma star and 2018 Heisman Trophy finalist was honored as the 2019 Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year and has career averages of 67.1 percent on his passes for 20,460 yards, 121 touchdowns, and 60 interceptions.

Murray has been prone to injuries throughout his NFL career, as he suffered a torn ACL in December 2022 that left him sidelined for the rest of the season and appeared in just eight games in 2023. During the subsequent NFL season, Murray faced further fitness setbacks after suffering a foot injury against the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, the Vikings successfully secured a dominant 39-22 victory over the Green Bay Packers in their season opener of the NFL regular season.
