Lindsay Lohan has given 'The Parent Trap' fans a nostalgic treat. The 'Mean Girls' alum transformed into grown-up versions of her iconic characters to celebrate Annie and Hallie's milestone birthday.
Time to celebrate with some Oreos and peanut butter! In the sweet video clip, she first appears with her long blonde hair down, wearing a light yellow sweater.
Lohan, 38, puts on a British accent and speaks while looking offscreen. "Happy birthday," she says.
"You know it's October 11?" The video then cuts to her with hair pulled back in a casual gray sweatshirt. "Annie you're so funny, of course I know it's October 11," she says, speaking in her normal American accent.
"Happy birthday sis." "Happy Birthday Hallie & Annie! 🌸👯♀️," Lohan captioned the post, which featured "There She Goes" by The La's from the film's soundtrack.
The tribute quickly went viral, garnering millions of views from fans who grew up watching the beloved 1998 classic. In the 1998 movie, a remake of the 1961 classic, the 'Freaky Friday' actress portrayed twins Annie James and Hallie Parker as an 11-year-old child star.
The film remains one of the most cherished projects of her early career. Lohan's ability to switch between the two distinct personalities - the sophisticated British Annie and the spirited American Hallie - was the highlight of the film.
Fans were delighted to see her revisit these roles decades later. The social media post served as a reminder of the lasting impact the film has had on pop culture.
Many followers commented on how the actress has maintained her charm and connection to her early work. The choice of music, "There She Goes," added a layer of sentimentality that resonated with audiences.
It perfectly captured the essence of the characters' journey and the nostalgia associated with the film. Lohan has been active in recent years, making a successful return to acting.
However, moments like these remind audiences of her roots as a child star who captured hearts worldwide. As the video continues to circulate, it highlights the enduring popularity of 'The Parent Trap'.
For many, this was a heartwarming celebration of a cinematic milestone that defined a generation.
