The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Friday increased electricity tariffs for consumers nationwide by Rs2.58 per unit through monthly and quarterly fuel cost adjustments. In a notification, Nepra said that under the monthly fuel cost adjustment, electricity price has been increased by Rs2.06 per unit. The July fuel price adjustment will place an additional burden of Rs33 billion on consumers. Separately, the power regulator forwarded its decision on the quarterly adjustment for the April-June 2026 quarter to the federal government. The quarterly adjustment, set at Re0.52 per unit, will apply from September to November 2026, according to the decision. Nepra added that the quarterly adjustment will also apply to K-Electric consumers. The decision will impose an additional burden of Rs12.67 billion on consumers across XWDISCOs, the notification read, excluding lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS), and pre-paid electricity consumers of all categories who opted for the pre-paid tariff. It added that XWDISCOs and K-Electric shall reflect the FCA in respect of July 2026 in the billing month of September 2026. Last month, the power regulator had increased the electricity tariff by Rs0.75 per unit across the country under the monthly fuel cost adjustment, citing variations in fuel charges for June 2026.
