Pa Resolution On Sindh S Geographical Integrity Sent To Centre

The Provincial Assembly of Sindh Secretariat has formally forwarded to the federal government the draft of a resolution adopted by the PA last week for the protection of the province's unity and geographical integrity. The resolution has also been sent to the President's Secretariat, the Prime Minister's Office, and the secretaries of the Senate and the National Assembly. The PA has declared in the resolution in unequivocal terms that "Sindh is one and will remain one". The House has called upon the Centre, the Parliament, and all the political parties and state institutions to respect the geographical integrity of Sindh and refrain from any proposal to alter the province's existing boundaries.

The resolution states that Sindh's unity and geographical integrity transcends party politics. It also urges the Centre and state institutions to respect the democratic will of Sindh's people. According to constitutional experts, under the relevant rules, the federal institutions concerned are bound to act upon resolutions passed by the PA.

The authorities concerned are also required to respond to an assembly resolution within 30 days.
