Security forces have eliminated at least 11 India-sponsored militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

The operations were conducted on September 6 and 7 following reports of the presence of terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy, Fitna al-Hindustan, the military's media wing added. On September 6, terrorists attempted to establish a roadblock in Kharan and disrupt local traffic, the statement said, adding that security forces promptly intercepted and engaged the terrorists, killing eight of them.

In a separate operation in Washuk district on September 7, security forces targeted a reported terrorist hideout. 'Own troops effectively busted the hideout and, following an intense exchange of fire, killed three more terrorists,' the military said. The security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives which was being used to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs), it added.

Sanitisation operations were under way to eliminate any other India-sponsored terrorists who may be present in the area, the ISPR said. The military said the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace to wipe out foreign-sponsored terrorism.
