Pakistan and Hong Kong are exploring closer cooperation in financial services, digital assets and tokenised capital markets as Islamabad looks to develop a more technology-driven financial system.
Minister of State and Chairperson of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) Bilal Bin Saqib met Hong Kong's Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui to discuss digital bond issuance, regulatory innovation and the potential use of tokenisation to improve capital formation and financial-market operations, PVARA announced in a post on X on Thursday.
The discussions focused on how digital assets and tokenised financial instruments could help make markets more efficient while expanding access to new forms of capital.
Hong Kong's experience in developing digital-asset and tokenisation frameworks could offer lessons for Pakistan as it works to build a next-generation financial architecture, according to the statement.
