Pakistan Overpower Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi to Clinch Series with Match to Spare

Pakistan clinched the three-match Twenty20 International (Twenty20 International cricket (T20I)) series against Sri Lanka with a commanding 82-run victory in the second match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Half-centuries from Maaz Sadaqat and captain Sahibzada Farhan powered the hosts to a formidable total before Pakistan's bowlers dismantled Sri Lanka's chase to seal an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Chasing 216 for victory, Sri Lanka managed 133-7 in their allotted 20 overs. Sri Lanka's pursuit got off to a disastrous start when Salman Mirza removed opener Lahiru Udara for five in the first over.

Mohammad Imran struck during the powerplay to remove Sineth Jayawardena, setting off a series of wickets that left Sri Lanka reeling at 74-6 after 11.5 overs. Captain Kusal Mendis contributed just nine runs before departing.

Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Maheesh Theekshana provided some resistance, adding 50 runs for the seventh wicket. Their partnership ended when Salman dismissed Wickramasinghe for 29 off 24 balls in the penultimate over.

Theekshana remained unbeaten on 32 from 26 deliveries, but his effort was insufficient. Mohammad Imran was Pakistan's leading wicket-taker with 3-11 in four overs.

Salman Mirza claimed two wickets, while Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan picked up one apiece. Earlier, Pakistan compiled 215-3.

Farhan and Sadaqat led the batting effort, setting up a formidable target. Pakistan made a good start through openers Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, who put on 55 runs for the first wicket.

Fakhar struck 22 off 17 balls before being dismissed by Maheesh Theekshana. Farhan and Sadaqat then added 88 runs for the second wicket.

Farhan departed for a 44-ball innings featuring four fours and five sixes. Sadaqat smashed 96 off 51 balls, including seven sixes and six fours, before being dismissed by Eshan Malinga on the final delivery.

Hasan Nawaz provided a late flourish, remaining unbeaten on 19 off nine deliveries.
