The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs informed the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Parliamentary Affairs on Wednesday that the Prime Minister's Public Affairs and Grievances Wing had referred 140 complaints concerning phishing and other cyber-enabled financial frauds to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) during the financial year 2025-26.

The committee meeting, chaired by MNA Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, was held at the Parliament House. Of the 140 complaints, 80 involved cyber financial fraud, 17 cyberbullying, 29 cyber harassment, six visa fraud, five identity theft and three general complaints.

A representative of the NCCIA told the committee that the agency had adopted a multi-dimensional approach to combating cybercrime, covering investigation, digital forensics, coordination with relevant institutions and public awareness initiatives. The NCCIA has also established a dedicated web-based Complaints Management Unit for receiving and processing complaints, the committee was informed.

A representative of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) briefed the committee on measures taken to provide relief to complainants whose grievances had been received through the Prime Minister's Public Affairs and Grievances Wing. The representative said the complaints had been processed according to the nature of each case and the eligibility status of the complainants.
