Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Mustafa Kamal has said Sindhis are a source of strength and pride for his party and an integral part of its existence, asserting that his party wanted to strengthen Pakistan through administrative restructuring without altering Sindh's geographical boundaries. "Sindhis are our strength, honour and part of our body, and we are part of their strength, honour and body," Kamal said while addressing a press conference at the MQM-P headquarters in Bahadurabad on Saturday.
He alleged that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) could no longer conceal its misgovernance and corruption behind the Sindhi card or by stoking Sindhi-Muhajir conflicts. "Today, people speaking all languages are living together in Karachi with mutual love," he said, adding that if violence were to take place, it would already have occurred over issues including children allegedly being infected with HIV through contaminated syringes at hospitals in Karachi and Larkana, lack of drinking water, deaths under dump trucks, deaths after falling into manholes, and killings during mobile phone snatchings.
Kamal claimed that the MQM-P had ended the violence associated with the MQM by removing its former leader. He alleged that when violence was taking place, the PPP had no objection to the MQM and its leadership and had held consultations with its leader in London. He accused the PPP of attempting to associate the Sindhi people with what he described as 400 people earning illicitly who were the biggest beneficiaries of the existing system.
He said the MQM-P was fighting the case of oppressed Sindhis in interior Sindh and assured that the lives, property, honour and dignity of Sindhis would be safer than before after the creation of new administrative units. Kamal concluded that the PPP was angry because it knew that the sun of its rule and corruption was setting.
