Raja Nasir Challenges Ayaz Sadiq's Claim Over Imran Meeting

Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas on Wednesday denied receiving any message or being approached for a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan, rejecting a claim made by the National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. "Neither I nor Mehmood Achakzai was approached for any such meeting," he told a group of media persons here. "I categorically refute the remarks made by the National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in his interview. From day one, we have been insisting on a meeting to steer the country out of difficulties," he contended.

"We urged that a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder be arranged, as this could help resolve the problems facing the country," he said. Regarding the arrest of assembly members from Punjab, he wondered if permission had been sought from the speaker beforehand. If arrests were made with permission, then it constituted an attack on parliament, and if they were arrested without permission, they ought to be released, he contended.

"We reiterate today that a meeting with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder should be arranged for us. I wish to clarify that no message regarding a meeting with the founder was conveyed to us," he said.

Political analysts view this development as another sign of friction between the opposition and key parliamentary figures regarding dialogue and access to the incarcerated leader. The opposition continues to press for formal channels of communication, arguing that political reconciliation is vital for economic and administrative stability.
