Prince Albert remembers ‘wonderful moments' with King Harald

Prince Albert II of Monaco has shared a deeply personal tribute following the death of King Harald V of Norway, remembering the late monarch for a lifetime of service and his commitment to causes beyond the Crown. In a letter addressed to Harald's son and successor, King Haakon VIII, the Monegasque sovereign said he and Princess Charlene had learned of the King's death with "profound sadness".

Albert reflected on Harald's long reign, praising the Norwegian monarch's dedication to his country and the people he served for decades. He also highlighted the affection and respect Harald earned during his time on the throne, describing his legacy as one shaped by duty and humanity.

The Prince placed particular emphasis on causes close to Harald's heart, including environmental protection and the values associated with sport and the Olympic movement.

Alongside the formal tribute, Albert included a personal note, recalling the "wonderful moments" the two families had shared together.
