Princess Diana's brother chose to turn off the comments on an emotional post marking her anniversary. Earl Charles Spencer commemorated the 29 years since Diana's death with a poignant social media tribute while restricting public responses beneath it. This comes as Spencer faces renewed attention surrounding his upcoming memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, in which he plans to share his memories of the late Princess of Wales ahead of the 30th anniversary of her death.
Diana would have turned 65 in July this year, and her brother's book is scheduled for publication in September, offering a personal account from the woman the world knew as the People's Princess. Spencer explained that his decision to write the book followed years of interview requests and growing frustration over seeing other versions of his sister's life repeated as fact.
"With the 30th anniversary of Diana's tragic death on the skyline, I've been inundated yet again with requests for interviews about my sister," he said. "This has convinced me to write down my own thoughts and memories, once and for all, rather than enduring the discomfort of reading others' opinions, many of which are based on untruths that have become accepted over time."
The Earl stated he wanted the memoir to present Diana through the eyes of someone who knew her not as a global icon, but simply as his sister. "As with my eulogy, I want to speak on Diana's behalf and do so in an openly positive way," he concluded, emphasizing his dedication to protecting her true legacy.
