Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi on Tuesday said technology was essential to improving access to justice, making court processes more efficient and enabling litigants and lawyers to engage with judicial institutions with greater ease. He made these remarks at a ceremony where the Supreme Court and National Information Technology Board (NITB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in cybersecurity, software development, digital services, IT infrastructure and technical capacity-building, says a press release.
Justice Afridi said technology should facilitate access to justice and improve service delivery, while stressing the need for robust cybersecurity measures to protect judicial data, digital platforms and institutional systems. He said the judiciary's digital transformation would require close coordination with the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, NITB and other relevant institutions to ensure that the process remained secure, resilient and sustainable. Registrar Supreme Court Suhail Muhammad Laghari and NITB Director General Faqirullah signed the MoU in the presence of Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Secretary Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Zarrar Hasham Khan, NITB Chief Executive Officer Faisal Iqbal Ratyal and others.
Khan assured the Supreme Court of full technical cooperation in cybersecurity, software development, digital services and IT infrastructure.
