Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday paid tribute to security forces for killing eight terrorists in an exchange of fire in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She lauded Captain Abuzar Farooq, Lieutenant Sheraz Babar, and four other personnel who were martyred during the operation, and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
She said the martyred officers and soldiers demonstrated exceptional bravery in defending the country. In her message on the International Day of Peace, the chief minister paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of officers and personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces deployed to guard the country's borders and maintain peace. She also appreciated the services of police and other security forces which remain actively engaged round the clock to maintain law and order across Punjab.
She said, "The International Day of Peace reminds us of the resolve to uphold tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Sustainable peace is indispensable for the development of Pakistan, and peace is a fundamental requirement for development." She added that peace brings forth the flowers of prosperity and spreads happiness everywhere, and every individual must play a positive and meaningful role in promoting peace in society.
The Punjab government is fully committed to promoting peace, tolerance, and interfaith harmony. "Those who choose the path of violence and unrest are enemies of the development of Pakistan," she stated. The CM noted that peace is not merely the absence of war; rather, it means living with justice, love, and respect. She prayed to Allah Almighty for lasting peace and prosperity everywhere in Pakistan and around the world.
