The united opposition has asked the government to take parliament into full confidence on important issues, including national security, foreign policy, economy and constitutional matters. In its formal statement issued here on Tuesday, the united opposition agreed to consider a proposal to move a resolution in parliament to ensure implementation of the Supreme Court's decision. It demanded the release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, in accordance with the Constitution and law.

It also sought the withdrawal of all legislation affecting constitutional principles, independence of the judiciary or institutional balance. The alliance further sought the dropping of politically motivated cases, an end to reprisals against political activists and respect for court decisions and their full implementation. Rejecting the drive to establish new provinces, the united opposition said, "The time for the establishment of new provinces is not right." It sought a national consensus after extensive consultation with all political parties and relevant stakeholders for the purpose.

It also demanded the protection of constitutional, financial and administrative rights of the provinces, as well as their rights over natural resources. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf welcomed Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) into the opposition alliance. Both parliamentary parties fully endorsed the formation of the united opposition. The alliance highlighted its demand for the supremacy of the Constitution, rule of law and independence of parliament. They resolved to adopt a common parliamentary position on issues of national importance and to use constitutional, legal, parliamentary and democratic means to eliminate legislation that contradicts the Constitution.

Furthermore, they decided to play a joint role within parliament to effectively raise issues of law and order, inflation, economic crisis, foreign policy, provincial rights and implementation of court decisions. The united opposition, the statement said, has agreed to establish a coordination mechanism for communication, consultation and a joint strategy among opposition parties. The united opposition would also adopt a comprehensive and permanent strategy to establish peace and order across the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. It also stressed restoring trade with Afghanistan and Central Asia, promoting border trade and activating trade routes. Effective measures should be taken to end inflation, unemployment and the economic crisis. The united opposition resolved to raise its voice strongly both inside and outside parliament on all these matters, demonstrating its readiness to challenge the government.
