Soon after his partner Mica Miller's tragic death at a North Carolina state park and the allegations of a toxic relationship that followed, congregants abandoned his church. The controversy led to the church selling its property. Mica, 30, was found dead with a head injury inflicted by a gunshot on April 27, 2024, at Lumber River State Park in North Carolina, just two days after filing divorce papers.
Mica's autopsy report ruled her death as suicide, which has once again become the topic of discussion after Netflix released a docuseries on August 26, Death of the Pastor's Wife. Though authorities have ruled Mica's death as suicide, her family members continue to challenge the circumstances that led to her tragic death. Miller, who has pleaded not guilty to the federal charge of cyberstalking his wife and lying to federal investigators about his alleged actions before her death, has moved on with a new partner.
Amid Miller seeing someone new in life, her first wife, Alison Williams, has made a series of new allegations in an affidavit in an emergency custody filing in the Circuit Family Court in Horry County, South Carolina. Miller tied the knot to Suzie Skinner in June 2025 and now preaches at a new church. John Miller was released on a 100,000 dollar bond while awaiting his federal trial.
The judge postponed his trial in mid-August 2026 until October 2026, according to Netflix's Tudum. If convicted, Miller could face five years of imprisonment for cyberstalking and two years for the false statements charges, with a fine up to 250,000 dollars, according to federal prosecutors.
