Katie Price's ex-husband Alex Reid has shared his feelings about his relationship with the former model, saying that their relationship overshadowed his career when they got together. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the star, who won Celebrity Big Brother in 2010, reflected: "I already had a successful career before her. I'd done lots of films, plays, lots of different TV shows. I was in Hollyoaks, and I've done sitcoms like My Hero. I'd just auditioned to become an anchorman for the UFC, like a Joe Rogan type. And then I had just got a role in a BBC drama before I met her. I literally got my first big TV show a week before I met Katie Price, and then all of a sudden, I'm nothing," he lamented.
"That was one of the biggest things [that affected me in the relationship]," he said. Speaking frankly, he admits one of his proudest moments came when he had a world title fight six months after they got together because it showed people there was more to him. "People thought I was just a celebrity, a nobody and they didn't respect me. They didn't realise that I was in that arena for 15 years, fighting at the highest level. By then I was a joke. So people thought I was going to last two minutes. I didn't even win the fight. I lost on a split decision, but I won more in that fight - the respect of people. I won acceptance from the public as a human being," he said.
Reid emphasized that rebuilding his reputation through his athletic endeavors was crucial for him after facing widespread public criticism during the marriage. He noted that public perception had reduced him to merely being a partner to a famous personality rather than acknowledging his own professional milestones.
The 51-year-old MMA fighter and actor and the 48-year-old former model were married from February 2010 until January 2011.
