Gates highlighted three primary risks: widespread job losses across sectors like law, medicine, customer service, and manufacturing; the empowerment of malicious actors to launch sophisticated cyberattacks against critical infrastructure such as hospitals and power grids; and detrimental impacts on children's development due to addictive AI chatbots that impair essential social skills. He wrote, "AI will either be the greatest equaliser ever invented, or the worst source of injustice." The 70-year-old philanthropist acknowledged his ongoing financial ties to the technology sector, as investment returns directly fund his charitable foundation. He also addressed how his past association with the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein might affect his public reputation.
