The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the exhumation and post-mortem of the late Assistant Commissioner (AC) Furqan Muhammad to ascertain the cause of his death about a year ago. Justice Shah Rukh Arjumand issued the directions while hearing a petition filed by the deceased's father, Muhammad Khan Marwat, who sought to determine the circumstances surrounding his son's death. The petitioner submitted that he had been seeking the actual cause of his son's death for the past year.

Advocate General Islamabad Naveed Malik assured the court that a medical board had been constituted and the exhumation and post-mortem would be conducted within two weeks. However, he said a forensic expert had not yet been arranged for the medical board. Three letters had been sent to the Federal Medical College in this regard, but no response had been received.

Justice Arjumand directed Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Anam Fatima to contact the institution and resolve the issue regarding the availability of an expert. Meanwhile, the District Magistrate Islamabad directed the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to constitute a six-member medical board to oversee Furqan Muhammad's exhumation and post-mortem. The names of specialist doctors from various PIMS departments have been forwarded to the District Magistrate.

Furqan Muhammad, then Assistant Commissioner Pattoki, died on August 31, 2025, after returning from a relief operation in flood-affected areas. He was buried at H-8 graveyard. The hearing was subsequently adjourned.
