Siva Kaneswaran has shared a heartfelt message about Liam Payne, remembering the One Direction singer as a "wonderful" and caring person on the anniversary of his passing. The Wanted singer reflected on how deeply Payne's death affected him, particularly as it echoed the loss of his own bandmate, Tom Parker.
Parker passed away in 2022 at the age of 33 following a battle with an inoperable brain tumour. Speaking to the Daily Mirror on 16 October, Kaneswaran admitted that losing Payne reignited the pain of losing Parker.
"Losing Liam felt so recent after losing Tom," he remarked. However, Kaneswaran fondly recalled how Payne supported Parker during his final years, noting that he sent a message after Parker's death, attended his funeral, and performed at a charity concert held in his honour.
"He was such a wonderful person, so honest and sincere," he added, describing Payne as a sensitive soul whose death is a profound loss. He also extended his condolences to Payne's family, friends, and fans.
Although One Direction and The Wanted were often portrayed as rivals, this tribute highlights a bond that transcended professional competition. Kaneswaran concluded that losing both men has fundamentally changed his perspective on life, teaching him to cherish every single moment with loved ones in the industry.
He emphasized that the pressures of fame often overshadow genuine human connections, but true friends always stand by each other through difficult times. The music community continues to mourn the tragic loss of Liam Payne, whose contributions to pop music and acts of kindness behind the scenes will never be forgotten by his peers.
Fans worldwide have also expressed their gratitude to Kaneswaran for speaking out and honoring the memory of both artists with such grace and dignity.
