Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik on Friday said the government is pursuing reforms across the petroleum sector to strengthen energy security, modernise infrastructure and create an investment-friendly environment for domestic and foreign investors. The minister made the remarks during separate meetings with the leadership of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) and the management of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) in Karachi.
During his visit to the OICCI, Malik held discussions with senior chamber officials, industry stakeholders and representatives of foreign investors. Media representatives also participated in the meeting, which focused on developments in the petroleum sector, ongoing reforms and investment opportunities. The minister briefed participants on government initiatives aimed at enhancing exploration activities, modernising refining infrastructure and advancing reforms across the petroleum value chain.
OICCI members, while sharing their perspectives on the sector, stressed the need for consistency in government policies and the tax framework, greater transparency and adequate security arrangements to strengthen investor confidence. OICCI President Yousaf Hussain said the petroleum sector remained critical to Pakistan's economic activity and investment ecosystem, welcoming continued dialogue with the government.
Separately, the petroleum minister held a meeting with the management of Pakistan State Oil at the PSO House in Karachi. The meeting reviewed measures related to national energy security, supply-chain resilience, strategic storage expansion and digital transformation. Malik commended PSO for maintaining an uninterrupted fuel supply and emphasised the need for greater use of digital technologies to improve efficiency across the sector.
