Veteran actor Michael Wright, widely remembered for his iconic portrayal of Elias Taylor in the 1983 television mini-series V and his acclaimed performance in The Five Heartbeats, has passed away at the age of 70. He breathed his last in Los Angeles due to heart failure compounded by complications from Marchiafava-Bignami disease, a rare degenerative neurological disorder.

A day after his passing, his wife, Susan Wright, paid a heartfelt tribute through a joint Instagram post featuring photographs of the Streamers actor alongside family members and fellow artists.

"It is with profound sadness and an unimaginable heaviness in my heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Michael Wright," Susan wrote, describing him as an extraordinary artist whose work touched generations. She added that while audiences revered him for his roles in The Wanderers, The Principal, and Streamers, to his family he was much more than his screen presence.

Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of condolences, Susan requested privacy for the family during their period of grief, stating that details regarding memorial service arrangements would be shared in due course.

Wright's extensive career spanned notable film titles such as 1994's Sugar Hill, alongside guest appearances in popular television dramas including Miami Vice, Nash Bridges, New York Undercover, and Oz. His final screen performances include the 2019 superhero series Black Lightning and the upcoming film Dope King.
