Michelle Keegan Turns Down Major ITV Role to Prioritise Daughter Palma

Michelle Keegan has reportedly decided to step away from a major ITV drama for the sake of her family. Michelle welcomed her first child, daughter Palma, with her husband, Mark Wright, in March 2025. Insiders have disclosed that Michelle, 39, had agreed to take part in the project a few months ago, and a filming date had also been agreed. However, she refused to take part before signing a contract.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: 'Michelle was really keen to take on the meaty role, but the heavy filming schedule would take her away from daughter Palma for too long. The hours were quite intense and the project was starting straight after her Netflix drama The Woods, and she just couldn't commit.' The source added: 'She is dedicated to her acting career, but like all working mums, has to prioritise being there for her family, juggling work, parenting, and being present for Palma.'

The decision highlights the ongoing challenges faced by working mothers in the entertainment industry, where demanding schedules often clash with family commitments. Friends close to the star noted that while the script was exceptionally well-written, motherhood remains her absolute priority at this stage in her life.

It comes after the Brassic star recently admitted it was daunting returning to work for the first time after having Palma. Fans and industry peers have since expressed their support for her choice, praising her dedication to maintaining a healthy balance between her booming career and her newborn child.
