Petrol Climbs Rs4.61, Diesel Dips Rs1.96

The government has cut the price of high-speed diesel by Rs1.96 per litre while raising petrol by Rs4.61 per litre, effective for September. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) revised the ex-depot price of diesel to Rs422.08 per litre from Rs424.04, while the price of motor spirit (petrol) rose to Rs393.75 from Rs389.14 per litre, according to a Petroleum Division statement issued Monday.

The latest adjustment comes under the federal government's petroleum pricing mechanism and reflects changes in international Platts rates, premiums and other incidental costs, the statement said.

Officials noted that these revisions are part of the routine fortnightly or monthly review process aligned with global oil market trends and currency fluctuations. Consumers across the country will feel the mixed impact of these price adjustments on their daily transport and operational expenses.

Further updates regarding petroleum levies, general sales tax adjustments, and supply chain stability will be monitored closely by market analysts as the new pricing cycle takes full effect across all fuel stations nationwide.
