Prince William Places Half-Billion Investment at Heart of Long-Term Vision

Prince William is putting £250,000 behind a new effort to breathe fresh life into a Dartmoor village. The Prince of Wales will visit Princetown on Tuesday to launch the Princetown Community Fund. Grants ranging from £500 to £40,000 will be available for initiatives spanning social, economic and environmental causes, with applicants also receiving guidance as they put forward their plans.

It follows William's decision to give up the £1.5 million annual rent generated by the local prison, directing the money towards the community. The decision came after the Duchy faced questions over its 25-year, £37 million lease of Dartmoor Prison to the Ministry of Justice.

The scheme will be delivered by Devon Communities Together, with funding available for projects that could strengthen village life, support the local economy and improve the surrounding environment.

The initiative also forms part of William's wider plans for the Duchy of Cornwall, with more than £500 million expected to be invested over the next decade.
