ISLAMABAD/LONDON: The opposition parties on Monday agreed in principle to adopt a unanimous stance inside Parliament on key national issues, including inflation, the alarming law and order situation, the creation of new provinces, and Pakistan's foreign relations. The agreement was reached during a joint parliamentary party meeting at Parliament House, chaired by Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mehmood Khan Achakzai.

Among those present were Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The meeting lasted for over three hours. Speaking to the media outside Parliament House alongside opposition lawmakers, Maulana Fazl cautioned that this is not the time to divide provinces, as it would only increase distrust. He pointed out that the opposition agrees Pakistan cannot afford such divisions at this critical juncture.

Addressing the prevailing economic crisis, he said that the poor are crying for bread and employment while the rulers walk on red carpets. Given this grim state of affairs, he noted that opposition lawmakers have decided to play the role of a united front. We are united today in view of the worsening law and order situation, he said, questioning Pakistan's current international ranking regarding the judiciary and rule of law.

Achakzai emphasized that in this stifling atmosphere, opposition members in the legislature have reached a historic consensus, noting that this unity will play a vital role in restoring the lost glory of Pakistan. Barrister Gohar stated that the opposition parties held a consultative session where all allied parties shared actionable proposals to challenge the government effectively, and they will now raise their voice collectively on all national matters.
