Billie Eilish gets one step closer to her feature-film acting debut, as The Bell Jar production has officially wrapped up. Sarah Polley's highly anticipated adaptation of Sylvia Plath's novel starred the Birds of a Feather hitmaker as Esther Greenwood, the talented young woman at the center of Plath's only novel. The 1963 masterpiece follows Esther as she struggles with societal expectations, personal identity and a devastating mental health crisis.
Joining the Lovely singer in the cast is Connor Storrie. The Heated Rivalry star is playing the character Marco. The film also features an impressive ensemble including Carey Mulligan as Esther's mother and Danielle Deadwyler as Dr. Directed by Oscar winner, who also adapted the screenplay, The Bell Jar has been in production in Toronto for several months. The project is produced by Plan B Entertainment, Studiocanal and Joy Coalition.
While fans may know Eilish, 24, primarily as one of music's biggest stars, The Bell Jar will mark her feature-film acting debut. It is not, however, her first acting role. She previously made her television acting debut in the 2023 Prime Video series Swarm, where she played Eva, a role that earned her significant attention and a People's Choice Award nomination.
