The federal government has computerised the records contained in all manual registers of the Toshakhana as part of an effort to secure, consolidate and modernise the sensitive records of gifts received by public office holders, informed sources said.

The sources told Jang that a dedicated server established with the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) has been linked to only one designated computer at the Cabinet Division. Access to the computer has been restricted to two authorised officials, a section officer and a deputy secretary, whose fingerprints have been integrated into the system for biometric verification.

The designated computer cannot be accessed through the regular government computer network and has been specifically allocated for maintaining Toshakhana records. The arrangement effectively confines access to the sensitive digital data to a closed chain comprising the NRTC's designated server, the single computer at the Cabinet Division and the two authorised officials.

The restricted-access mechanism has been introduced to prevent unauthorised access to the records and ensure that the digital data is handled only by officials formally assigned responsibility for its maintenance. The new system contains the digitised records previously held in all Toshakhana manual registers.

It includes comprehensive details of gifts received, the source from which they were received, the person or institution that presented them, their assessed value, dates of receipt and issuance, as well as complete entry and exit data. The centralised database is intended to ensure that the entire trail of a gift - from its receipt and initial entry to its valuation and eventual issuance - remains available in a single digital record.
