Two Mianwali Jail Officials Suspended As Punjab Orders Prison Reshuffle

The Punjab Home Department has ordered a significant administrative reshuffle in the provincial prison service, transferring new superintendents to Central Jail Mianwali and District Jail Bhakkar while suspending two officials posted at the Mianwali prison for 90 days. The decisions were taken through a series of orders and notifications issued by the Home Department on Aug 28 and have taken effect immediately.

Under one of the notifications, Muhammad Siddique Gill, a BS-18 Superintendent Jail, has been transferred from District Jail Bhakkar and posted as Superintendent, Central Jail Mianwali, under Section 9 of the Punjab Civil Services Act, 1974. His posting will remain in force until further orders. The move follows the suspension of Rasool Bukhsh, BS-18, who was serving as Superintendent, Central Jail Mianwali, under Section 9 of the Punjab Civil Services Act, 1974. Bukhsh has been placed under suspension for a period of 90 days with immediate effect on charges of inefficiency, negligence and misconduct under Section 6 of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006.

The order directs him to report to the Inspectorate of Prisons, Punjab, Lahore. In a separate order, the Home Department also suspended Muhammad Asad Tariq, BS-17, who was serving as Deputy Superintendent (Executive), Central Jail Mianwali. Tariq has likewise been suspended for 90 days with immediate effect on charges of inefficiency, negligence and misconduct under Section 6 of the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006. He has also been directed to report to the Inspectorate of Prisons, Punjab, Lahore.

The department has made an interim arrangement for the executive administration of the Mianwali prison following the suspension of Tariq. Sami Ullah Khan, BS-17, Deputy Superintendent (Judicial), Central Jail Mianwali, has been assigned the additional charge of Deputy Superintendent (Executive) at the prison with immediate effect and until further orders. At District Jail Bhakkar, the Home Department has appointed Arif Shahzad, BS-17, Deputy Superintendent Jail, who was serving at the Inspectorate of Prisons, Punjab, Lahore, as Superintendent of the facility under Section 9 of the Punjab Civil Services Act, 1974. The transfer and posting of Shahzad, like that of Gill, will remain effective until further orders.
