The Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan police have registered a case against a minor driver and those who allegedly provided him with a car after a speeding vehicle hit a motorcycle on the Manghopir flyover killing a 13-year-old girl and seriously injuring her father. The FIR No 512/26, was registered under the sections 320, 322, 427 and 337-G of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of Umair, the deceased girl's uncle.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred on Sunday evening near Qalandariya Chowk on the Manghopir flyover. The girl, identified as Khaula, was travelling on a motorcycle with her father Younis when a grey Toyota Corolla allegedly hit them. The complainant said he was informed by his elder brother Abubakar that Younis had met an accident and his son Abdullah and daughter Khaula were also with him.
He rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he found Khaula's body and learned that his injured brother had been shifted to the Civil Hospital. The child's body was moved to a morgue after completion of legal formalities. In the complaint, Umair alleged that a minor driver had been driving at excessive speed in a negligent and careless manner.
He requested legal action against the young driver as well as those responsible for handing over the vehicle to him.
