Women from different walks of life took part in a special trip of the BRT Peshawar Pink Bus Service following its launch and welcomed the dedicated transport facility as a positive step towards providing safe, reliable and dignified public transport. The inaugural trip was attended by Senator Rubina Naz, provincial Ombudsperson Rubab Mehdi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW) Secretary Shazia Atta, former MPA Rabia Basri and Frontier College for Women Principal Dr Shaheen Umar, besides lawyers, students, social workers and doctors.
The participants appreciated the service, describing it as a safe, reliable and quality transport facility designed specifically to meet women's mobility needs. They said the dedicated bus service would make daily commuting easier and improve women's access to education, employment, healthcare and other professional and social activities across the city. The participants said a safe and dignified public transport environment was an important need and the Pink Bus Service was a positive development in this regard.
They added that such facilities could boost women's confidence and enable them to participate more effectively in social and economic activities. The Pink Bus Service, launched by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in Peshawar, aims to provide women with safe, reliable and dignified public transport to different parts of the city.
