Diesel Price Up By Rs2.40, Petrol By 39 Paisas

The government has further increased prices of petroleum products, raising diesel by Rs2.40 per litre and petrol by 39 paisas effective from Tuesday. After the increase, petrol prices rose to Rs341.98 from Rs341.59, while diesel prices increased to Rs370.69 from Rs368.29 per litre.

The latest increase comes amid ongoing volatility in global oil markets and follows a series of recent adjustments in domestic petroleum prices. Economic analysts note that these revisions are part of regular fortnightly reviews aligned with international market trends and local tax adjustments.

The hike in diesel prices is expected to put additional pressure on transportation, freight, and agricultural costs, as diesel is widely used in heavy transport and tractors. Meanwhile, the petrol price increase will directly affect daily commuters, motorists, and private vehicle owners across the country.

Consumers and various trade bodies have expressed concern over the persistent inflation and rising fuel costs, urging the government to provide relief where possible. Authorities, however, maintain that pricing adjustments are necessary to meet revenue targets and sustain supplies amidst fluctuating international benchmarks.
