Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman's son Levon lands first leading role

Levon Hawke, the son of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, has landed his first leading role in a feature film, starring opposite Sir Anthony Hopkins in the indie drama Twenty-Seven. Variety reported the 24-year-old will play a 27-year-old aspiring screenwriter who is building relationships, managing obsessive-compulsive disorder and trying to break into the film industry.

Gregory Caruso wrote and directed the film, and his company Bristol Pictures is producing it, alongside David Worthen Brooks and Dustin Cook. Filming is under way in Los Angeles.

No other cast members have been named at this stage of production. Caruso said he wrote the character with Hopkins in mind. 'I wrote this character hoping someone like Anthony Hopkins would play him,' he said.

He added: 'He brings a mastery to the role I still can't fully describe.' Hawke made his screen debut in the 2023 Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room, and has since had small roles in Zoë Kravitz's 2024 directorial debut Blink Twice and the 2024 western The Thicket.

He also appeared alongside Timothée Chalamet in the 2025 film Marty Supreme, showcasing his growing versatility. He has a stage background too.

In 2024, he directed Picture Day, an original play that he also wrote. Working opposite one of the most celebrated actors of his generation gives the young actor a significant step up from supporting parts, and puts him at the centre of a film built on the bond between two characters at very different stages of life.
