Carly Rae Jepsen Reveals Hit Show Inspired Her Son's Name

Carly Rae Jepsen revealed her son's name has a surprising TV connection. The Call Me Maybe singer recently opened up about her love for Heated Rivalry and shared the most personal connection with the hit TV series, much closer to home than fans might expect. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the proud mother of one said it would be a "dream" to write a song for the popular Crave project, especially after series creator Jacob Tierney expressed interest in having her involved. However, it was her next comment that offered the bigger surprise.

"It was an incredible show," the Canadian singer-songwriter and actress said, before revealing that the name of her son has a connection to one of the show's characters. Notably, Jepsen, 40, welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Ilya, in March. "Ilya is the name of my son. Maybe, not maybe because of that show," she then added a playful connection to the series.

For the unversed, Ilya Rozanov is one half of the central romance at the heart of the series. The character, portrayed by Connor Storrie, has become one of the breakout figures from the show, making Jepsen's revelation an especially fun detail for fans.

Whether the show directly inspired the name or simply gave Jepsen an amusing connection to something she already loved, the coincidence has certainly made her relationship with Heated Rivalry feel a little more personal.
