Drew Barrymore and Kristen Bell strip away beauty standards on daytime TV

Kristen Bell and Drew Barrymore decided to challenge beauty standards by removing their glam live on television. During a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the pair took off their makeup and hair extensions while discussing social media pressures and the unrealistic expectations placed on women's appearances.

"You were the inspiration for me suggesting this because there's no other show you could do this on," Kristen said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "They're gonna be like, 'Could you...Maybe that's not how we're gonna do this talk show.'"

Once Kristen began unclipping her extensions, Drew followed suit, turning the segment into a deeper conversation about self-image. The Nobody Wants This star, who shares daughters Lincoln and Delta with husband Dax Shepard, explained how parenting shifted her perspective on beauty.

"So I said, you know what, makeup and dressing and fashion, it's not about concealment, it's about creativity. And for some reason when I taught that to them, I also finally heard it for the first time myself," she noted.

Kristen also emphasized that cosmetics should never be a mandatory requirement for women or girls showing up online. "For me, it's just like...I wasn't born with makeup on.

I'll survive if I post something on social media without makeup on, and I want other girls, anybody, to feel that it's not mandatory," she added, while praising Dax's supportive parenting approach with their daughters. Television audiences across the United States reacted positively to the unfiltered conversation, praising both hosts for addressing difficult topics surrounding modern womanhood.

Media analysts noted that morning and daytime television shows are increasingly shifting toward authentic, unscripted moments to connect more deeply with younger viewers. Social media platforms quickly flooded with clips from the broadcast, generating millions of views and widespread discussions about body positivity and self-acceptance.

Both actresses continue to use their respective platforms to advocate for mental health awareness, honest parenting, and the dismantling of toxic beauty myths.
