Katseye is apologizing to their fanbase, the Eyekons, after leaving thousands disappointed with a last-minute concert cancellation. The iconic girl group issued a statement on their Instagram Stories, explaining that they were forced to postpone their Wildworld Tour concert in Detroit on Tuesday, November 3, due to bandmember Megan Skiendiel falling ill.
"Unfortunately, Megan is unwell and unable to perform tonight, and we want to make sure she has the time she needs to rest and recover," they revealed. "We know so many of you have traveled, made plans, and been looking forward to tonight.
We are disappointed that we won't get to see you, and we're truly sorry for the inconvenience." Fans already at the venue shared videos of the message displayed on stage: "We're sorry to share that the Katseye show scheduled for tonight at Little Caesars Arena has been postponed due to illness."
One concertgoer, Alliz Nguyen, noted that VIP ticket holders were able to attend a sound check and photo session before the show was canceled roughly 30 minutes prior to start time. Eyekons had previously noted that Megan appeared unwell during their November 1 concert in Hamilton.
Despite their sympathies, many fans expressed frustration, suggesting the cancellation could have been announced earlier. With Megan sidelined, only three of the six members - Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, and Yoonchae Jeung - remain on stage.
Frontwoman Sophia Laforteza is set to return from her hiatus in January, while Manon Bannerman's hiatus remains indefinite. The group has promised to provide updates regarding rescheduled dates for the Detroit show as soon as possible.
Fans are advised to keep their tickets safe for future announcements. The incident highlights the growing challenges faced by touring artists in maintaining rigorous schedules while managing health concerns.
The music industry continues to see a trend of last-minute cancellations due to health-related issues. As the tour continues, the management team for Katseye is expected to review their protocols to ensure better communication with ticket holders in the future.
For now, the focus remains on Megan's recovery and the group's ability to regroup for their upcoming performances in the following weeks.
