Kelly Osbourne opens up about 30 lb weight gain and grief following father's death

Kelly Osbourne says she has gained nearly 30 lbs since her 2026 BRIT Awards appearance in February, and has recalled begging her late father, Ozzy Osbourne, for help during one of the hardest stretches of her life. The 41-year-old spoke to The Sun, reflecting on the dramatic weight loss that drew public concern when she and her mother, Sharon, accepted a lifetime achievement award on Ozzy's behalf.

"I didn't know that I looked like that until I saw the pictures," she said, adding that she was as shocked as everyone else. Eating, she said, made her feel like she wanted to throw up.

At the time, she responded to online criticism on Instagram Stories, writing that there is a special kind of cruelty in harming someone who is clearly going through something. Ozzy died on 22 July 2025, aged 76.

Kelly described going to his grave with a white candle and writing a wish on it asking him to please help her. She said she does candle magic a lot, and that her father told her he would send messages.

She has also had to cope with her split from fiancé Sid Wilson, with whom she shares a son, Sidney. Looking back, she said grief has taught her something beautiful: that it is an honour, because it comes from loving someone that much.

The star emphasized that the public scrutiny she faced during her period of grief was particularly difficult to navigate. She noted that while the physical changes were visible, the internal struggle of losing a parent and navigating a high-profile breakup simultaneously created a perfect storm of emotional distress.

Despite the challenges, Kelly remains focused on her son, Sidney, and her personal healing journey. She continues to share snippets of her life with fans, advocating for more empathy in online spaces, especially when dealing with individuals who are grieving.

Her candid admission has sparked a conversation about the pressures of fame and the often-unseen toll that personal tragedy takes on public figures. Fans have largely rallied behind her, offering support as she navigates this complex chapter of her life.

As she moves forward, Kelly is prioritizing her mental health and well-being. She credits her family support system and her personal spiritual practices for helping her maintain perspective during these trying times.

The entertainment industry continues to watch her progress, with many praising her for her honesty and resilience in the face of such significant life changes. Ultimately, Kelly's story serves as a reminder that even those in the spotlight are human, and that grief is a universal experience that requires patience and kindness.
